I’ve known Deb at the Center for Neuropotential for several years and hold her in the highest professional regard. She is truly a leader in the field—exceptionally knowledgeable in both EMDR and neurofeedback, deeply thorough in her work, and consistently grounded and wise in her clinical approach. Deb brings a rare combination of expertise, presence, and integrity to everything she does. We regularly inter-refer clients to one another, which speaks to the level of trust and respect I have for her clinical judgment and outcomes. In addition to her clinical work, Deb provides high-quality clinical trainings, generously sharing her expertise and helping to advance the field. I am always confident that clients are in excellent hands with her and her team. I wholeheartedly recommend Deb and the Center for Neuropotential to both clients and professionals alike. — Erica Wilcox, LPC Certified EMDR Therapist EMDRIA Approved Consultant Founder| Wilcox Wellness, LLC

My husband and I took in our nephew when he was a toddler. He came from an abusive household and faced significant neglect. He didn't sleep, had violent outbursts, and was terrified of everything. After trying therapy at multiple places over a number of years, I stumbled across EMDR and neurofeedback in my research. We were desperate and decided to try something new. I am so happy that I found the Center for Neuropotential. It changed our life. Our boy now sleeps through the night, independently rides his bike to school, and has confidence. You can see the difference in pictures - his eyes are now full of light when they were previously vacant. While no longer with this particular group, his therapist, John Cherneski, was a game changer. In combination with the neurofeedback, John's approach was incredible. Thank you to the Center for Neuropotenial and to John Cherneski for giving us happiness.

Questions and Answers

Q: My child met all their early milestones, but I still have concerns about their development. My pediatrician says an evaluation isn’t needed because they walked and talked on time. What should I do?

A:

It’s common to have questions or concerns even when your child’s early milestones were on track. Development is much more than just walking and talking—it includes how your child thinks, learns, interacts, and manages emotions. If you notice challenges with attention, social skills, behavior, or learning, a neuropsychological evaluation can provide valuable insights and guidance. Trust your instincts as a parent; you know your child best, and seeking answers is always a positive step.

Q: The term "neurodivergence" seems to be everywhere lately, especially when talking about autism. What does it really mean?

A:

Neurodivergence is a way of understanding that brains work differently, and that’s okay. When we talk about autism through a neurodivergent lens, we’re not trying to “fix” anyone. Instead, we recognize autism as a unique neurotype to understand, honor, and support. By moving away from chasing “normal” and embracing who our kids truly are, we create space for them to thrive and feel valued just as they are.
